Stuck in the Flood Zone - Portland Press Herald

Back on January 15, 2012, the Portland Press Herald featured an article written by Jonathan Riskand, Washington Bureau Chief, about the many residents of Maine who have been placed in a flood hazard zone according to FEMA's flood maps, and forced to purchase mandatory flood insurance. Jim Nadeau contributed to the article, sharing his experience with flood maps and the issue of residents being incorrectly placed in flood zones due to map errors.  It is a complex issue and we're finding that people could really use more guidance.  This is the primary reason why we continue to look for opportunities to educate our clients and the many professionals and consultants that deal in these transactions.
