Welcome to the Flood Zone is a monthly publication intended to guide, assist, and educate all interested parties in regards to flood zone issues, including the transition from the currently used paper Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) to the Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps (DFIRMs), flood insurance, FEMA submittals, and risk mitigation. Our newsletter also shares information about land surveying and real estate.
We would like to thank the Association of State Floodplain Managers for awarding us a 2013 Media Outreach Award for this newsletter at the ASFPM’s Annual Conference in Hartford, Connecticut on July 13th, 2013.
Thanks for the newsletter – both informative and entertaining – hard to do.
Brian S., CFM
I find your newsletter to be very informative and I read it with great interest every month since I am in a Special Flood Hazard Zone.

I often check out your articles in your “Welcome to the Flood Zone” newsletter. What an excellent resource for individuals and professionals alike. It’s consistent and concise and easy to read. You’re a great example for the profession. Keep up the good work!

I am a county surveyor and CFM in Florida. I am the lead manager working through the new FIRM maps review process and acceptance via the map modernization; this combined with the BW Act is like experiencing double jeopardy, which is difficult to relay to the public. Enjoy and utilize your newsletter, information and resources provided. Thanks.

I receive a lot of miscellaneous emails in my inbox and most make it to the trash can before they are even opened. I wanted to let you know that every time I receive your newsletter, I read it from top to bottom. I am not an insurance agent or a surveyor, yet I still find it interesting every month. Thank you for creating such a wonderful newsletter that anyone can look at and learn something from!
