On October 4, 2013, we presented among our peers - fellow land surveyors from across the State of Maine. It was nice to see some familiar faces as well as many new ones. Jim Nadeau presented "Understanding the National Flood Insurance Program" at the Good Will-Hinckley School in Fairfield, Maine. Land surveying and floodplain management are inextricably linked, even more so now with revisions to FEMA's Flood Insurance Rate Maps, and the increasing number of property owners who are seeking out land surveyors to collect data for elevation certificates and Letter of Map Amendments. We are very pleased to share our knowledge of the NFIP with land surveyors because we believe it benefits the industry as a whole to diversify the services we can offer.
